Custom decals designed by Meindert de Vreeze

yte

Regularly, I design my own decals for my aircraft models as these are not available in after market sets or not in a particular scale.

For example: for a 1/32 Tornado ADV, aftermarket decal sheets had no white dotted walk way lines. Over 15 years ago, I had 3 custom decal sheets printed for my Tornado F2 or F3 in 1/32 scale.

Some modellers also want those decals for building their models and sometimes they send me a mail to ask about a decal sheet. Sometimes, it is possible to provide a sheet.

Each custom designed decal sheet is nowadays custom colour laser printed by a "Third Party". To save costs and effort, each laser print has one "continuous print film" on the decal sheet. So each individual decal needs to be cut out with fine scissors or use a sharp blade knife, steel ruler and glass plate.

No other prior decal preparation is needed as these are laser prints. Each cut out decal can be applied as usual after soaking it a short while in water. The printed decal sheets are VERY THIN, so conform to surfaces well. So it is crucial to slide off each individual decal from the wetted backing sheet on a horizontally held GLOSSY model surface.

As usual... after all decals have been applied, finish the model with your preferred final gloss, matt or semi-matt varnish coats. This will also protect on your model all the applied decals for years to come.

WHAT ARE THE DESIGNED SHEETS?

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: being an aircraft modelling hobbyist I can not guarantee 100% accuracy of the decals.
Sheets will not be printed or sold in quantities, only for the individual modeller "printed on demand".

DECAL SHEET #1 (white patterns for Tornado ADV F2/F3)

First, sheet #1 has the peculiar white walk way lines in 1/32 seen on grey Tornado ADV F2 and F3.

Look for my 1/32 Tornado ADV models here...

Stripes need to be cut to size by the modeller matching the pattern as shown on the upper view drawing. Some extra lengths are provided.

On the sheet are also NO STEPS in white and the alternative NO "foot" STEP symbols as also sometimes seen on ADV Tornado's.

Sheet #1 is essential on all Tornado ADV F2 and F3 schemes. Decals are sufficient for one model with the stripes.

This 1/72 scale decal sheet can be used on the 1/72 Academy kit. Look for the modelling report at this page...

NOTE: The decal sheet has the yellow patterns but may not cover 100% over the blue base paint in a large scale. If you want better yellow coverage, it is advised to apply a lighter undercoat on the yellow patterns before applying the yellow decals. This will need a lot of masking for which the black-white mask PDF can be used with tape. The mask PDF can be downloaded below as can the instructions.
