Another King Air 350 kit was made: This A&A Models kit release numbered #7226 is also for a King Air 350. It is for a passenger/ utility transport configuration. Decals in kit #7224 are for: -1- King Air 350, Swiss operator in white scheme. -2- King Air 350, German ADAC Luftretting in yellow scheme -3- King Air 350, Ukraine operator in white scheme. The decals are fine. There are 8 sprues and a transparant sprue with some 160 parts. It is very similar to the 350 kit described above with the longer cabin, bigger diameter 4-bladed propeller parts and extra ventral fins. But now no cabin interior is provided but that is not seen through the (bit unclear) cabin windows. For this model I opted to do a scheme of the Guyana Defense Force, the country in South America bordering Surinam for the World Air Forces in Plastic collection. This will be done with my own designed custom printed decals. I made a scheme drawing.... The Guyana scheme is overall gloss white with colourful tail and cheatlines. It has 1 single long ventral fin however, use kit part #9. General assembly is very similar as described for the Japan model on page 1. Note also the issues with the cabin windows and how I tried to make these look better. See suggestions on page 1... The model got after general assembly, puttying and sanding again a base grey airbrushed coat Revell 75 steingrau. The overall scheme is gloss white. It is a good practice to airbrush first a mat white coat. So airbrushed were a few layers of Revell Aqua 05 weiss acrylic. Than followed a few gloss white coats with Gunze Sangyo Mr.Hobby H1 white acrylic thinned with 80% Gunze acrylic thinner and 20% Gunze levelling thinner. A final good effect is obtained with a final thin coat with Tamiya White X-2 thinned with the special Tamiya thinner X-20A. The leading edges of the outboard wing sections are mat black so were masked off and airbrushed. The inside edges were hand painted. The Guyana Defense decals were home designed and custom printed. The tail decals were also made. If you want a decal print for your model a special decals set AIPD-93 is available. Want one? Let me know... All custom laser printed decals need to be cut out separately from the continuous decal film. Some edges need painting of green and red as the decals never will follow complex tail fairing curves. But otherwise the decal film is very thin and will conform to normal curves. A few long black walkway stripes were also set on the model. It has no Defence roundel markings. When decalling was done, the landing gear and the smaller bits are now to be installed. I had to drill open a bit wider the wheel holes to fit it. The nose gear wheel peg was reduced 0,5 mm in width. I did not bother to install the numerous very tiny gear door hinges #G8. The 2x2 curved engine exhaust parts were a bit crude. Sanding is needed. Again, the big diameter 4-bladed propeller parts are moulded "in flight" and not feathered as parked. So these blades were carefully twisted with pliers as described on page 1..... The propeller blades were painted mat black with white-dark grey-white tips on both front and rear sides. Some transparant lights are also provided in the kit, a nice detail. The wing tip anti-collision lights needed a bit trimming. A thin gloss varnish coat was airbrushed to get an even sheen and protect the decals. The usual technique was airbrushing Johnson Future/ Pledge clear varnish thinned with 10% Gunze Mr.Hobby Levelling Thinner. Shield off any clear model areas with a piece of carton while airbrushing. That completed this smart looking model. The Guyana plane had the standard antennas but I could not see the long wire antennas so these were not set. The many static dischargers were made not with the Pe5 parts but from fishing line bits. The nice Pe fret 2 wind screen wipers were painted black and set with super glue at the lower end. |

Guyana [area: 251,000 sq.km | population: 817,000 | capital: Georgetown | GDP 26,000 USD per capita nominal ] Guyana is a country on the Northern coast of South America with neighbouring countries Surinam and Venezuela. It became independent in 1966 being former Dutch and British territories. The population lives in the coastal region as large areas are covered by the jungle. The Guyana Defense Force has a small air wing established in 1968 flying some Britten Norman Islanders and Short Skyvan in the beginning. In 1986 even some 3 Mil Mi-8 helicopters were acquired and more recent Harbin Y-12 and again to ex-Brazil BN Islanders. Some new Bell helicopters are also flown as well as a Beech King Air 350: ... in a scenery...
Another A&A
Models 1/72 kit #7226 "Japan Coast Guard" King Air 350 was purchased as it had many extra parts. This kit is described on page 1.... The kit will be made in a scheme of a Bahamas Defense King Air 350. Home designed and custom printed decals are used. I designed decals sheet AIPD-92 with these markings. If you want a decals sheet, look at the decals page here.... The general assembly is similar as described above for the Guyana model. The Bahamas King Air scheme is also overall gloss white. The nacelles are gloss black. These were hand painted. On the nacelles are cheatlines so some extra white underlaying decals were used. These are in my set AIPD-92. The scheme has also a roundel with code on the upper and the lower wing. Some black walk way lines were also set on the upper wing. A roundel with registration is at lower and upper wing. The smaller bits like landing gears, antennas were set as described above. Same with changed propellers, transparant lights, exhaust pipes. A thin gloss varnish coat was airbrushed to get an even sheen and protect the decals as described above... This plane has long wire antenna and a shorter wire, these were made with fishing line. The many static dischargers were made from fishing line bits as well.
Bahamas [area: | population: | capital: Nassau | GDP per capita nominal ] The Bahamas are islands off the coast of Florido and north of Cuba in the Atlantic Ocean. The Bahamas became independent in 1973 as member of the British Commonwealth. A small defense force was set up with mainly vessels but also a few aircraft with an air wing established in 1981 flying from Nassau airport. A few Aero Commanders were flown and Cessna 402 and 402 planes. A Vulcanair P68C is also operated. Late 2005 a Beech King Air 350 c/n FL-95 was acquired that had 2 paint schemes: registred C6-BDF and DF-103. .. in a scenery..
