.. continued from Page 2....

After the main model assembly, it was time to add now a light grey coat to check for any flaws. I used REVELL 75 enamel for this.

Slats and flaps fit very good so can be added later on.

The paint scheme used the colours and paints as indicated on page1....

The RAF Typhoon got airbrushed its overall BSC381c 626 Barley grey colour. Some pre-shading was done with black paint in areas to have some more different hues in the end finish.

It was now time for decalling, after applying 3 coats of gloss varnish using  Johnson Future/Pledge. Decalling takes quite some time as Revell provides you with LOTS of stencilling. It took 3 afternoons, but it is worth it.

Some decal numbers are not correctly shown on the instructions, but you will be able to sort it out.

After drying, the decals were lightly oversprayed again in the Barley grey, this will blend the decals in with the model finisch.

Next, the undercarriage assembly was done. For a good fit you will need to remove some plastic at the outboard edges of the main wheel bays. This is a bit fiddling around, but it can be done to get the legs correctly in position. Various brake lines were also added made from stretched sprue and thin metal wire. Behind the landing lights I added some metal foil for the reflectors. The undercarriage colour is very light grey.
.

Missiles were assembled, sprayed and decalled as shown. Not all decals I could find on the sheet so I used some pictures and added the various coloured stripes.
.

Inside the wheel bays, some additional colours were added and some oilstreaks and weathering using PROMODELLER black wash.

.
The photo above shows fitting the (corrected) wind screen, filling the gap with white glue. Instrument panels still to be painted with details. The corrected canopy is also seen here. The edges were also sprayed Barley grey. Inside the canopy, various details were added as well from rod and sprue.

The Revell instructions show 2 mirrors in the wind screen, but in fact 3 mirrors are needed in te canopy. A REHEAT set was used for these mirrors.

The kit ejection seat from the kit is nice for a MB Mk.16 and was used, but with some added detail like straps and buckles. On the cockpit inner walls some addional details were also added, like a box on the right side. Instrument panels are mostly light grey with dark grey and light knobs and switches.

I did not like the kit exhaust and replaced the feather parts (No. 81 or 82) with thin metal sheet cut out from a BBQ plate. I also added from the metal sheet extra detail, like on the edge of the cockpit seen above.

The newly made exhaust have now 34 parts each and the metal was sprayed with a mix of TAMIYA smoke and black. (probably some aftermarket will come with nice resin exhausts)....
.

Slats fit nicely.

Some additional things done.....
- a very small pitot tube was added inside the left intake
- the nicely provided lights in the kit were tinted transparant red or green using TAMIYA transparent acrylics
- a very small antenna was added in front of the wind screen
- the HUD got 2 supporting rods
- the canopy can be set in position as I added two small metal rods, each corresponding with a small hole in the back plate
- at the flap fairings you will keep a gap, these were all filled with white glue and painted grey.

The whole model got an end coat of semi-matt varnish with  Future/Pledge with some TAMIYA X21 FLAT BASE Acryl mixed in.

And here is the result.... I am very pleased with this Revell model of the Eurofighter / Typhoon.

Here the corrected base of the wind shield and canopy can be seen to good advantage. Also some details in the canopy can be well seen here

ADDENDUM:
I saw that on operational Eurofighter planes the aft section of the nosewheel door has been removed. When an aircraft is seen from below with gear retracted, there is a gap visible in the nose gear wheelbay! This can be easily done for the model door as well by cutting off this section (not seen on above photos):
