EA-6B Prowler model in 1/72 scale
.. continued from page 1... The wing ECM jammer pods came from the Fujimi EA-6A kit, which I believe are somewhat better than those in the Hasegawa kit. As with the EA-6A, a combination of the Hasegawa kits decals and Microscale set 72-128 for the stencilling was used. Prowlers and Intruders show a large variation in details regarding the markings and paints so check out pictures. The Prowler is finished in a VAQ-136 squadron version, boarded on the USS Midway, Code "NF". Also used were the supplied "yellow" leading edge decals. When using a decal setting, such as from DACO from Belgium, they will droop along the sharper edges. The walkways decals were slightly reduced in size and "no step" and "no push" lower markings added on the moving surfaces. The wingtip airbrakes were cut open and given their red paint. And finally, with a toothpick I picked out some "rivet" details using slightly darker paint but don't overdo it. This is so small, it can not be seen on these pictures.... The model is seen here as completed with all its markings. The canopies were internally detailed with sprue, mirrors and bits and pieces. A good upper view, note the deployed flaps and slats (came from the Fujimi A-6 wing through cross kitting)
Cockpit detail, note the dark grey inner "edge" amde from thin metal strip and painted and so, another nice US Navy collector kit on the shelf...
