.. continued from page 2... Preferably, do not fit the wing pylons yet as the flying surfaces leading edges are bare metal on the Buccaneer ( I added the pylons too soon). Baremetal foil was used here and burnished onto the edges. It took quite some work, but the end result is worth it. The anti-collision lights at the wing tips were made by cutting out notches, filling with a small piece of clear plastic and Microscale Klear. They were given their red-and green paints with Tamiya transparant paint. Now the model was ready for its decals after several coat of Johnson Klear / Future were added with a wide paintbrush. ModelDecal set #20 was the main source. I had some trouble with the glue from these decals, carfeully remove as much as possible the brownish glue befor putting the decal on the model.
Detailling of some stencilling was
done with black and white paint using a toothpick.
Finally, the decalled model was cleaned up using a cloth with water and after drying, two coats of gloss Johnson Future were sprayed on with the airbrush to protect the decals. As a last step, the canopy was added . ![]()
[ note: colours vary due to picture
processing]
Another nice
model for the FAA collection.
