FAA  models in 1/72 scale

The Buccaneer SB.2 model cockpit got a floor, some side consoles and instrument panels made from plastic card.

An Aeroclub vacu canopy was also purchased which improves the looks of the model. The windshield is seen here. Also, a internal blast shield was added but I replaced the kit part in between the aft and forward cockpits.

The airbrakes at the fuselage rear end were also fitted , these were previously detailed.

Aeroclub metal gear was also added.

Some details were added to the internal bay outside doors.

Also note the small details added such as the flap hinges. Later Buccaneers had I guess ECM pods at the wing leading edges. These were made from plastic rod and added.

Interesting to see here are the different wing tip shapes seen on Buccaneers. Most later SB.2  Buccaneers got a fuel dump fitted in the wing tips later on, giving a straight look to the tip.

The white tip seen above in the picture is from the old Airfix NA Buccaneer mk.1 pre-production kit, which represents a pre-production type. also the SB.1 and early SB.2 types had the original curved wing tips without the fuel dump.

[NOTE: the old Airfix pre-production type kit has also the prototype exhausts; if you want to make a correct SB.1, you have to replace the exhausts!!! ] [ see note on page 1 ]

But now... lets continue with the model of the SB.2 Buccaneer....
