METHODS
Various methods can be used for conceptual aircraft design. For this design phase (the first stage) practical fast methods are needed. Based on emperical data and data on existing aircraft, good estimates can be made. It is important to also have some future technology effects in the methods.
The development of simple computer programs makes even better parameter variation possible.
Only for later stages in the design, advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics methods are of use, but remember: garbage in, garbage out!
Least to say to keep a good critical attitude towards these complicated tools!
